To start out, when you have extra money buy the upgrade license for the bigger well, faster truck, and stronger bear cage. This is helpful if you need to buy some extra upgrades to get gold on more difficult levels. You get to keep the gold you earn each time you replay a level. You can repeat a level as often as you like to try to get a faster time. If a level mark on the map is white with an X, it means there is something you need to buy in the shop before you can play that level. However, this does not mean the upgrades are available on all levels. Understanding this is the difference between silver and gold on a lot of levels. Otherwise if you make $30,000 and immediately buy the pizza machine, you’ll have to make another $50,000 to make the money goal, or $80,000 total in the round. It is usually better to make the $50,000 first (which will count for the money goal), then buy the pizza machine with that money, leaving you with $20,000 but the money goal already met. Say you have a money goal of $50,000 and you have to buy a pizza machine for $30,000. This is especially important on levels where you have to buy a lot of upgrades or expensive livestock. It does not mean you have to end up with that much money. If you have a money goal, it just means you have to have that much money at some time during the level. So if you need 3 cheeses but you can buy goat’s milk, you should upgrade the cheese machine to level 3 right away. Of course, if you can buy the inputs, then you want to upgrade the end machine in the sequence first. Then when you get more money, upgrade the cheese machine to 3 also. If you have limited funds, you should buy 4 goats, upgrade the curd machine to level 3, and the cheese machine to level 2. For example, suppose you have to make 3 cheeses. That way you always have enough to keep everything going at maximum. When you have a sequence of things to do and you don’t have enough money to upgrade everything to the maximum level, it’s usually best to make a pyramid so that there are more inputs earlier in the sequence. In general load the most expensive items first, buying or selling. So if you have a crate that already has 1 egg in it, you can only add goat’s milk if you have room for one more crate. The truck and the plane carry things in crates, and cannot mix items of different types in the same crate. Time stops while you are looking at the truck screen or the airplane screen.
